If you are a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. student at a university, or hbo(university of applied sciences) or an institute of higher education; if you are a young graduate, already working or considering setting up a start-up company in France or in the Netherlands, and you would like to participate in developing innovative environments which encourage health and well-being: Consider applying before May 14, 2018 for the “Health and well-being in the built environment” Creathon, organized by the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the French-Dutch Network (RFN), the French embassy in the Netherlands and NUFFIC. The event will take place on June 6, 7, and 8, 2018 at Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

What is a creathon?

A ‘creathon’ brings young people together as they work in teams on a specific topic and compete against each other to come up with innovative solutions to current issues. The best proposed project will receive a prize.

This Creathon will gather stakeholders from companies, local government and higher education institutions who work on issues of healing environments. “Health in the built environment” (HitBE) comprises activities in the built environment aiming at sustaining, facilitating and improving public health and well-being, while supporting individual citizens in their ambition to reach a high level of quality of life.

HitBe is an initiative of the TU/e Department of the Built Environment and includes several TU/e faculties and partners outside TU/e.
HitBE participates in the TU/e Research Area ‘Engineering Health’.
HitBE participates in the TU/e Focus Area Health via the research track Health in the Built Environment. The Research Area ‘Engineering Health’ is divided into different Focus Areas and our activities are connected to the Focus Area ‘Healthy Daily Living’.
The aim of the “Health in the built environment” community is to develop innovative and multidisciplinary projects, in order to support policymakers and citizens to create healthier indoor and/or outdoor surroundings that promote an active lifestyle and enhances well-being. The Creathon will be an opportunity to enhance the history, economic and urban fabric, as well as institutions and clusters connected to this subject.

This Creathon will weave together with the presentation of the proposal of the ‘VIRTUe‘ finalist team, composed of TUE students, for the Solar Decathlon Middle East international competition. The full-scale test of their project will be built and open to the public on the TU Eindhoven campus.

The creathon is aimed at students and young professionals (10 from France and 10 from the Netherlands; under the age of 30), whose field of study or professional activity can be related not only to architecture or urban planning but other disciplines such as green chemistry, health, engineering (public transport, civil engineering..), history, geography, psychology, sociology, design and art are welcomed  in order to cover the whole chain of thought, development and production of a common final team project.

  • The ‘Health and well-being in the built environment’ Creathon is an invitation to boldness, optimism and young people’s commitment to their future.
  • All costs related to participation (travel, meals, and lodging) of the selected candidates will be covered by the event organisers.
  • The teams will be composed of members that do not know each other in advance, and mixed between French and Dutch attendees.
  • The working language will be English.
