The annual Creathon of the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL), which focuses on entrepreneurship in relation to various themes, is changing this year. The 2022 edition takes the form of a Cross Creathon bringing together the cities of Lille and Maastricht, and co-organised by the MEL, Studio Europa Maastricht, the French-Dutch Network, NUFFIC, the French Institute in the Netherlands and the French Embassy in Belgium. This Creathon, intensive creative work sessions designed to bring out innovation and co-creation, is organised in two parts in Lille and Maastricht on 16-18 March and 11-13 May 2022. During this Creathon on “Citizen Engagement in Circular Economies”, 32 students and young professionals will work in mixed, multidisciplinary and multinational teams to develop innovative projects in an entrepreneurial framework. The aim will be to create concrete and transferable solutions to encourage and enable citizen participation in cross-border circular economies.
This 2022 edition also welcomes a new part entitled “citizenship / dialogue between young Europeans” organized in collaboration with the Young Europeans and in addition to the strand usually dedicated to entrepreneurship which is, this year, dedicated to the circular economy. This collaboration is an opportunity to encourage exchanges between young Europeans thanks to thematic debates and the European Parliament simulation, particularly on the themes of sustainable development, climate change, European mobility and citizenship. 25 young people from France, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as young people from the metropolitan area will participate in the exchanges proposed in Lille on 16 and 17 March.
The launch evening of the Cross Creathon Lille-Maastricht, which will take place on Thursday 17 March, will bring together the participants of the “Circular Economy and Citizen Participation” and “Citizenship / Dialogue between young Europeans” components. This evening will give policy makers, entrepreneurs, researchers and students from both regions and Belgium the opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities during a plenary programme and a cocktail reception.
Simultaneous translation will be provided during the first part of the programme allowing a translation from French to English and English to French.
